Women’s History Month: Our Favorite Audiobook-Narrating Women!

The amount of audiobooks performed by fantastic, talented women is limitless. We asked our fellow Penguin Random House Audio staffers to weigh in and shout out some of their favorite women narrators in the spirit of Women’s History Month. Join us in a round of applause for this group of women and the stories they lend their voices to!

Yinka, Where is Your Huzband? was an absolute joy to listen to! It was super smart, funny, and charming, and Ronke Adékoluejo’s narration is absolutely phenomenal. Miss her already!”–Alexis Patterson, Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Special Projects

Author: Abi Daré
Read By: Adjoa Andoh

“My favorite narrator is the kick-ass Adjoa Andoh, aka Lady Danbury from Bridgerton, reading anything, but especially The Girl with the Louding Voice, Get a Life, Chloe Brown, and Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor.”–Dakota Cohen, Manager, Marketing

Author: Anita Hill
Read By: January LaVoy

“One of my favorite audiobook narrators is January LaVoy – what can’t she do?? January has serious range and has narrated books from nearly every genre, from YA like Libba Bray’s classic Diviners series, to romance titles by Alexa Martin and Denise Williams, Star Wars novels, even the voice of Charlotte the spider in Charlotte’s Web! Her reading of Anita Hill’s Believing is an especially appropriate choice for Women’s History Month.”–Katie Punia, Vice President, Publicity

“I loved Mitra Jouhari’s narration of Perfectly Parvin. She captured Parvin’s voice and experiences as a teen figuring out where she belongs and who she is as she straddles two cultural identities so, well, perfectly.”–Tara Djangi, Associate Director, Marketing

“One of my very favorite audiobook experiences from the last year was listening to Crying in H Mart, written and read by Michelle Zauner. As a Japanese Breakfast fan I already knew I loved Michelle’s singing voice, but hearing her read her memoir was totally different. It’s always special to hear someone’s story in their own voice, and Michelle is a strong, stoic narrator throughout–basically the opposite of how I felt as a listener who cried until the end.”–Erin Murphy, Associate, Marketing
